For me, it is about striking a balance between 'getting prepared' and 'taking action'. The study of order and method is perpetual. There is always another level of mastery. And at the end of the day, I often feel overloaded with plans, procedures, practice, and the growing awareness that there is always so much more to learn. Perfection is an illusion.
So why not just wing it? Yes! Yes, we have to wing it ...to some extent. Because in taking action, there is always going to be some unknown quantity of risk. So I know that I must accept some level of risk and uncertainty with confidence. It is reasonable to do so. Life is an adventure and risk is a major component. And that's sort of the fun of it.
