I'm striking out on a big adventure... one journal page at a time. Below in this drawing, I have layered in a couple of light scrawls with ballpoint. It is an odd collection of shapes that sort of hang on a swinging arc structure. The thing is, at this point, I've sort of lost my feeling for it. But still, I'm curious if something might emerge from it. I mean, if I put more drawing into it... Or should I give it up? I do hit these moments of doubt. Why continue to work on something that seems to have lost its way? Perhaps this is my big adventure... a test of faith, hope, and courage. After doing a thousand pages, I can get through these doubtful moments with less drama ...less emotion. But it is always there. It always seems to hit me at some point. And there is always the work in getting through it, and following through all the way and getting the work finished. Of course, we want to believe in ourselves and our work. We want to follow through and complete every project. We don't want to fail. But on the other hand, it is important to keep in mind, it is just a little scrap of paper. In other words, it's not about ego. It's about curiosity... that's the big adventure. Comments are closed.
